In de publicatie van Van Gelder et al., getiteld ‘Verbetert het ‘down-stagen’ van de IPSS-R-score voor allogene stamceltransplantatie de prognose van patiënten met myelodysplastisch syndroom?’ (Ned Tijdschr Hematol 2024; 21(6):258–65) wordt op basis van onderzoeksresultaten de aanbeveling gedaan om bij patiënten met myelodysplastisch syndroom (MDS) geen inductiebehandeling toe te passen voor een allogene stamceltransplantatie (alloTx).1 Deze aanbeveling behoeft ons inziens op basis van dit retrospectieve onderzoek en onderzoeken uit het verleden nuance.
